Care Instructions for pre-loved items
The leather of vintage items tends to be drier than that of newer items, usually because it hasn’t been treated regularly or properly. If it's needed, we provide each leather item with a cleaning and moisturizing treatment before offering them in our webshop. If you have questions about the specific products we use for the cleaning, feel free to contact us.
To keep your vintage item in great condition, you can follow these care tips:
Handling
- Avoid overloading: Vintage bags are often more delicate, so avoid carrying heavy items to prevent damage to seams and straps.
- Minimize sun exposure: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause fading and wear. Store your bag in a cool, shaded area when not in use.
Cleaning:
- Dust regularly: Gently wipe the item with a soft, dry cloth to remove surface dust.
- Spot clean: For small stains on not leather items, use a damp cloth with mild soap, but always test first on an inconspicuous area. Avoid soaking or using harsh chemicals.
- Leather cleaner: For small stains use a cleaner specific for leather items.
- Leather conditioner: Apply leather conditioner every few months with a dry cloth to keep the leather soft and prevent drying out.
Storage
- Stuff the bag: Use acid-free tissue paper or soft fabric to lightly stuff the bag and help maintain its shape. Avoid overstuffing.
- Use a dust bag: Store your item in a breathable dust bag or cotton pillowcase. Do not use plastic, as it can trap moisture and cause mold.
Avoid Contact with Liquids
Keep away from cosmetics and perfumes: These can stain or damage the material. Ensure any liquids inside the bag are securely sealed.
